🏛️ State License Law 📍 New JerseyThe New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC), within the Department of Banking and Insurance, enforces the license law and may suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew a license, as well as impose monetary penalties for violations such as fraud, misrepresentation, or commingling of funds. Before disciplinary action, a licensee is generally entitled to notice and an opportunity for a hearing. New Jersey also maintains a Real Estate Guaranty Fund that can reimburse consumers who obtain an unsatisfied judgment against a licensee for certain wrongful acts, subject to statutory limits.
