🏛️ State License Law 📍 New Jersey

📖 What you need to know

The New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC), within the Department of Banking and Insurance, enforces the license law and may suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew a license, as well as impose monetary penalties for violations such as fraud, misrepresentation, or commingling of funds. Before disciplinary action, a licensee is generally entitled to notice and an opportunity for a hearing. New Jersey also maintains a Real Estate Guaranty Fund that can reimburse consumers who obtain an unsatisfied judgment against a licensee for certain wrongful acts, subject to statutory limits.
