📖 What you need to know

Real estate licensing in New Jersey is governed by the New Jersey Real Estate Commission (REC), which operates within the Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI). To qualify as a salesperson, an applicant must complete a 75-hour pre-licensure course and pass the state exam. A licensed salesperson cannot operate independently; they must be employed by and work under the supervision of a licensed broker, who is responsible for the salesperson's professional conduct.
