🏛️ State License Law 📍 MassachusettsThe Massachusetts Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons, operating within the Division of Occupational Licensure, enforces licensing law and can investigate complaints against licensees. After an administrative hearing with proper notice, the Board may deny, suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew a license and may levy fines for conduct such as fraud, misrepresentation, commingling of trust funds, or failure to make required disclosures. Massachusetts also maintains a real estate Recovery Fund that can reimburse consumers who hold an unsatisfied court judgment against a licensee for fraud or deceit. When the fund pays a claim, the responsible licensee's license is suspended until the amount, with interest, is repaid.
