🏛️ State License Law 📍 South CarolinaThe South Carolina Real Estate Commission, operating under the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR), enforces the state's real-estate license law by investigating consumer and industry complaints. When a violation such as misrepresentation, mishandling of client funds, or unsupervised practice is found, the Commission may impose discipline ranging from a reprimand or fine to suspension or revocation of the license. Licensees are afforded due process, including notice of the allegations and an opportunity for a hearing. South Carolina also maintains a Real Estate Recovery Fund, which can reimburse consumers who obtain an unsatisfied judgment against a licensee for certain wrongful acts.
