Illinois Advertising & Record-Keeping Rules

Under the Real Estate License Act of 2000, all advertising by a licensee must be truthful, not misleading, and must identify the sponsoring brokerage so the public knows who is responsible. Brokers generally may not advertise property without authorization and must avoid blind ads that conceal the brokerage's involvement. Brokerages are also required to keep complete transaction and escrow records and retain them for the period set by IDFPR rules so they are available for audit or investigation.
